Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Second year Trainee or qualified Solicitor (FAMILY & CRIMINAL LAW) to join our legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your legal career within a dynamic and professional environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting legal operations, conducting research, and assisting with case preparation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services. This position is paid and suitable for both aspiring trainees and fully qualified solicitors seeking new challenges.

Duties

Assist with legal research and prepare reports to support case development
Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, and contracts using Microsoft Word
Organise and maintain case files, documents, and records in accordance with organisational procedures
Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders via email and telephone
Manage schedules, appointments, and deadlines using Microsoft Outlook and organisational skills
Utilise Microsoft Excel to compile data, track case progress, and generate reports
Attend meetings, take minutes, and ensure follow-up actions are completed promptly
Support senior solicitors in preparing for court appearances or negotiations
Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards and data protection regulations
Appear in Sheriff courts and Tribunals representing our clients.

Requirements

Proven communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong organisational skills with excellent time management abilities
Fluency in English (both written and spoken)
Good IT skills with the ability to adapt to new software or systems quickly
Previous experience in a legal environment is advantageous but not essential for trainees
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
For qualified solicitors: valid practising certificate or equivalent recognised qualification
