The role:
With a background in Infoworks ICM, you will work on a variety of flood risk modelling and mapping related projects.
Successful applicants will work alongside our appraisal, design, engineering and planning teams. These projects make a difference to local communities and the environment, serving a range of public and private sector clients.
Responsibilities, commensurate with grade, include:
· Undertaking 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling using InfoWorks ICM to support flood risk and drainage studies
· Contributing to the technical delivery of flood risk projects as part of a multidisciplinary team
· Communicating effectively and collaborating with clients and colleagues to build and maintain positive working relationships
· Using GIS software, including QGIS or ArcGIS, to support analysis, mapping, and project delivery
· Working effectively within technical teams and supporting the development of colleagues as appropriate
· Applying problem-solving skills and professional judgement to deliver high-quality outputs that meet client and project requirements
· Supporting hydrological assessments using FEH methodologies and broader UK hydrology principles where required
· Assisting with project and task management activities to support successful project delivery.
We are looking for a candidate who:
· Has experience in 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling with InfoWorks ICM
· Works collaboratively, with strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
· Is motivated and proactive, focusing on delivering technical excellence
· Is a flexible team player, able to work with different project teams both locally and across remote offices.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in environmental science, geography, mathematics or related field.
· Strong expericee in flood risk modelling within InfoWorks ICM
· Confidence using 1D, 2D and 1D/2D techniques in rural and urban environments
· Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS) and terrain data analysis Experience in managing projects, winning work and liaising with clients (applicable to more senior grade positions)
· Ability to be collaborative, self-motivated, and an effective communicator – you will work with different project teams both locally and across our offices.
Desirable attributes for the role:
· Knowledge of hydrological methods (e.g. FEH)
· Understanding of UK flood risk policy and management approaches
· Experience in managing projects, winning work and liaising with clients
· Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
· Experience in business case appraisal
· Knowledge of a broad range of modelling techniques.
· The right candidate will have a Chartered status is important to JBA and valued by our clients – you should be Chartered (if at a more senior grade) or be able to demonstrate your commitment towards becoming Chartered with an appropriate professional body.
