We are currently looking for a hardworking, methodical individual`s who shows pride in their work to join our our Basildon and Rochford Depots.

As a Cleaner & Test Technician, your responsibilities will include:

Equipment Inspection & Testing: Checking returned hire equipment for damage or faults, running operational tests, and making sure everything meets safety and legal standards (LOLER & PUWER).
Cleaning & Presentation: Cleaning tools and machinery to a professional standard, from power tools to larger plant equipment, making sure everything is ready for the next customer.
Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out basic servicing (oil changes, filters, blade swaps), tagging and quarantining faulty items, and assisting engineers with repairs.
Health & Safety: Working safely at all times, using PPE correctly, and maintaining a tidy, hazard-free workshop.
Team Support: Helping colleagues on the depot floor when needed, including loading/unloading vehicles and supporting customer needs during busy periods.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable, and has a real eye for detail.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Hands-on, mechanical aptitude with experience in a workshop, maintenance, or repair environment (e.g. automotive, plant, or tools).
Ability to follow technical processes and complete paperwork accurately.
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks.
Safety-focused and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable (but not essential):

Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, or related fields (City & Guilds, NVQ).
Previous experience in tool hire.
Knowledge of LOLER & PUWER regulations.
Full UK driving licence.

Reliable, trustworthy, and safety-conscious.
Diligent with high standards — you take pride in a job well done.
Proactive and willing to get stuck in where needed.
