We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate Speech and Language Therapy Associate Practitioner to join our Specialist Adult Learning Disability service.
The Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership (LDP) is a highly successful, nationally recognised integrated health and social care partnership. It is comprised of five locality-based integrated community teams providing person-centred specialist services to adults with intellectual disabilities.
As part of our multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will work alongside Allied Health Professionals, Speech & Language Therapists, Social Workers, Community Nurses, and Psychologists.
To contribute to the delivery of Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) , under the guidance of a supervising Speech and Language Therapist , to Adults with Learning Disability (ALD) . Delivery of the SLT service is across the area covered by the LDP.
To take part in regular supervision to guide practice .
To create resources identified by the SLTs, for use with service users and/ or in training
To i mplement SLT programmes devised by Speech and Language Therapists for groups and individuals.
To contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of SLT within the LDP.
To undertake specific skilled work to support the treatment of the health and communication needs of adults with a learning disability.
To contribute to multi-disciplinary / multi agency working within the LDP , and with other key partners , when requested by supervising SLT.
To complete certain administration tasks as detailed in job description.

To collect specific information to support the assessment, treatment and management of communication and swallowing needs for service users referred , for example, use telephone screening tools; gather information for the Pre assessment Communication Profile from carers / staff / family members, as requested by SLT.
To apply skills and knowledge in A lternative and A ugmentative C ommunication (AAC) including manual signing , symbol and communication aid use across a variet y of communication environments.
To contribute to develop ing information that is accessible to service users, staff and carers as required .
To prepare requested communication resources requir ed by the SLT team, these may be to support specific work with services users and/ or to support a range of training packages delivered by SLT. This will involve use of symbols software.
To discuss and agree with relevant Team SLT any other requests for Multi disciplinary team members work .
To use observation skills to note service user and carer/ support staff communication (including verbal, non-verbal commu nication ) .
To seek advice from supervising SLT if a service user’s status indicates adjustment to a treatment plan.
To d evelop skills to prioritise and manage own workload, requesting discussion and support when needed.
To contribute in formation about own work with specific service users to wider discussion about those indi viduals, e . g . at integrated team meetings/case discussions, etc.
To work collaboratively with service users, their carers and families as appropriate , to make decisions relevant to the service users’ individual communication programmes in conjunction with relevant Team SLT.
To attend and contribute actively to monthly SLT and other relevant LDP meetings.
To implement and review SLT care plans for service users and inform Team SLT of current situation .

You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs.
