Company Overview

La Petite Maison London is looking for an experienced and passionate Pastry Junior Sous Chef to lead our pastry team and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the pastry section.

With a team of four pastry chefs, this is a hands-on leadership position for someone who has strong technical pastry skills, high standards and the confidence to lead and develop a team in a busy, high-end restaurant environment.

The Role

As Pastry Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the pastry section and ensuring the team consistently delivers exceptional desserts and pastry preparations to the standards of La Petite Maison.

You will work closely with the senior kitchen team, taking ownership of pastry preparation, organisation and service while supporting the development of the chefs within your team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of four pastry chefs.
Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running and organisation of the pastry section.
Oversee all pastry mise en place and ensure preparation is completed to a consistently high standard.
Produce and oversee high-quality desserts, pastries, creams, sauces and other pastry preparations.
Maintain exceptional standards of presentation, flavour, consistency and portion control.
Organise the team effectively to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Train, motivate and develop junior members of the pastry team.
Lead by example and maintain a professional, positive and disciplined kitchen environment.
Assist with menu development and contribute creative ideas to the pastry offering.
Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and minimise waste.
Ensure the pastry section is clean, organised and compliant with food safety, hygiene and allergen standards.
Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to ensure an efficient service.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Pastry Junior Sous Chef with a strong background in high-end restaurants, luxury hotels or quality pastry kitchens.

You will have:

Proven experience in a Pastry Junior Sous Chef or senior Pastry Chef de Partie role.
Strong technical pastry skills and excellent attention to detail.
Previous experience leading and developing a pastry team.
The confidence to take ownership of a section and lead during busy services.
A genuine passion for pastry and a commitment to consistently high standards.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
A calm, professional and hands-on approach.
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
A desire to continue developing and progressing within a high-quality culinary environment.
