Job Title: Pastry & Cake Chef

Location: Emsworth
Employment Type: Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend shifts required)

About BLOOMS

Right in the heart of Emsworth, BLOOMS prides itself on offering our guests a warm, charming atmosphere paired with exceptional, handmade treats. We are looking to take our bakery and cake offering to the next level, and we need a passionate, creative Pastry & Cake Chef to help us dream up, bake, and execute a brand-new, show-stopping menu of cakes, pastries, and afternoon tea specialties for our local community.

The Role

This is a hands-on, highly creative role for someone who lives and breathes baking. You will take total ownership of our daily counter display and specialty cake production. Whether you are crafting delicate viennoiserie, modern layer cakes, or traditional afternoon tea staples with a contemporary twist, your creations will be the talk of Emsworth and central to growing the BLOOMS brand.

Key Responsibilities

Menu Innovation: Design, test, and introduce new seasonal cake lines, dietary alternatives (e.g., vegan/gluten-free), and signature afternoon tea pastries to expand our product offering.
Daily Production: Prepare and bake a fresh array of cakes, tarts, scones, and pastries daily, ensuring consistent high quality and stunning visual presentation.
Display & Merchandising: Maintain an eye-catching, abundant, and beautifully styled counter display that entices customers the moment they walk into BLOOMS.
Quality & Cost Control: Monitor ingredient inventory, minimize food waste, and maintain accurate recipes and costings for all baked goods.
Kitchen Standards: Uphold the highest standards of kitchen hygiene, food safety (HACCP/H&S regulations), and cleanliness.

What We Are Looking For

Experience: Proven professional experience as a Pastry Chef, Cake Decorator, or Baker (tearoom, boutique bakery, or cafe background preferred).
Creative Flair: A strong artistic eye for modern cake decoration, flavor pairing, and presentation.
Technical Skill: Expertise in scaling recipes, working with various icings and fillings, and mastering sponge structures and pastry work.
Work Ethic: Reliable, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of the close-knit BLOOMS team.
