Finance & Accounts Assistant (Insurance) – Part Time

Location: Hybrid

Hours: 15 hours per week – ideally spread over 5 days, but open to variation

Salary: £12,000 per annum based on 15 hours per week

Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly, organised and detail-oriented Finance & Accounts Assistant to join our growing insurance business.

This is a varied support role within the MGA division of a larger insurance group, providing finance support across several successful and growing businesses. Working as part of a small and collaborative team, you will assist with a range of insurance finance and general business finance activities, helping to ensure that financial processes are completed accurately, efficiently and on time.

The role would suit someone with previous finance or accounts experience within the insurance industry who takes pride in producing accurate work, has excellent attention to detail and is comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with Insurance Broking Accounts (IBA) activities, including:
Allocation of receipts
Credit control and debtor management
Preparation of insurer settlements
Production of monthly bordereaux reports
Investigation and resolution of accounting queries
Support the day-to-day finance function, including:
Processing supplier invoices and payments
Cost allocation and coding of expenditure
Use of Xero and other business systems
Assist with month-end processes, including:
Account reconciliations
Preparation of supporting schedules
Reporting and analysis
General finance administration
Maintain organised and accurate records in accordance with company procedures
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business
Support continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures

Skills and Experience

Essential

Previous experience in a finance, accounts or IBA role within the insurance industry
Good understanding of insurance accounting processes
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to work to deadlines and adhere to timetables
Confident using Microsoft Excel and other business systems
Professional, reliable and proactive approach

Desirable

Experience using Xero
Experience working within an MGA, broker or underwriting environment
Understanding of bordereaux production and insurer settlements

Personal Qualities

Able to work independently while also being a supportive team member
Willing to learn and develop within a growing business

Qualifications

No formal accounting qualification is required. However, previous experience in a finance or accounts role within the insurance industry is essential.

Pay: £12,000.00 per year
