About Us
We are a leading interior refurbishment contractor based in Preston, and we are looking for a reliable, experienced, and enthusiastic Contracts Manager to join our close-knit team and take the lead on our project delivery.
The Role
This is a hands-on position for someone who is very familiar with construction methods and programming. You will be responsible for planning and delivering our projects and being the main point of contact for our installation teams and clients, mobilising sub-contractors and making sure the job gets done right and on time.
Your day-to-day will involve:
- Project Oversight: Managing multiple refurbishment projects simultaneously across the North West. You will look after all our installations and refurbishment work from South Birmingham up to Cumbria.
- Programming & Scheduling: You’ll be the person responsible for seeing a project through from the initial plan to the final handover. You will plan the sequence of the projects and then make it happen.
- Coordinating Our Teams: You’ll be the bridge between the office and the site. This means managing our sub-contractors and internal labour, making sure the right people are on the right jobs at the right time.
- Fitted Furniture Planning & Ordering: A big part of what we do involves high-quality fitted furniture installations. You will need to go to site, take accurate measurements, plan the layout, and place the orders for the units and components. We need someone who can spot a potential fitting issue before the units even arrive.
- Quality & Safety on Site: You’ll be out on-site regularly to check that the work is being done to our standards. You’ll also manage all our Health & Safety requirements, ensuring every site is compliant and our workers are safe.
- Supporting the Team: During our busier periods, we often bring in temporary junior project managers. You’ll oversee their work, offer guidance based on your experience, and make sure they are following our processes.
What We Are Looking For:
We need someone who has "been there and done it." You’ll need to speak the same language as our tradespeople and have the technical eye that only comes from years on the tools.
- Trade Background: You must have spent several years "on-tools," preferably within joinery, though other trades will be considered.
- Kitchen Expertise: You must be highly proficient in measuring and planning kitchen installations.
- Qualifications: A valid SSSTS or SMSTS qualification and a current CSCS card are essential.
- IT Literacy: Excellent IT skills, familiarity with Excel and Microsoft Project or similar programming software is essential.
- Experience: Proven experience in construction project management is a must.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).
- Reliability: A can-do attitude who is flexible and keen to go the extra mile to get the job done.
What’s in it for you?
We value our staff and believe in providing a stable, supportive working environment.
- Direct Commercial Impact: You won’t just be a "cog in a machine." You will see the direct result of your work when a project that you have overseen reaches completion.
- Competitive Salary: £50k - £60k per annum.
- Company Vehicle: A small company van and fuel card provided (for business use and commuting only).
- Work-Life Balance: A consistent Monday to Friday schedule with no weekend work required. 23 days annual leave plus all statutory bank holidays, plus your birthday off!
- Great Team Culture: We are a friendly, positive company that values our staff and offers a supportive, collaborative culture.
- Good Benefits: newly refurbished offices, great holiday package and easy access to the motorway network.
