Construction Buyer | Carmelcrest

Carmelcrest is a Main Building Contractor based in Bishops Stortford. We undertake high quality commercial construction services in the public sector such as Healthcare, Education, Local Authority, Leisure and Blue Light sectors.
We are looking for an experienced and driven Construction Buyer to join our growing team.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Core Tasks:
- Procurement of construction materials, services, and plant hire
- Managing logistics and ensuring error-free deliveries to site
- Management and tracking of plant hire, ensuring off-hire dates are adhered to
- Maintaining positive relationships with our supply chain
- Negotiating rates with supply chain
- Upkeeping of our C.A.S Approved Suppliers Database
- Ensuring supply chain insurances are in place
- Producing O&M manuals and presenting to clients on time
- Producing correctly worded sub-contracts
- Dealing with agency labour
Additional Tasks:
In addition to the core tasks mentioned above, you may also be required to assist the wider team in the following tasks:
- Answer office telephone calls
- Management of defects & client callouts
- Managing renewal of core office resources such as WIFI, printer lease, telephones etc
- Assistance where needed with renewal of key accreditations such as SSIP CHAS, ISO9001, 14001 & 45001 etc.
- Arranging a booking health & safety visits to site
Role Requirements:
- Ability to reliably commute to Bishops Stortford. (Full time office based).
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to review and understand construction drawings, to scale and quantify from them.
- Ability and willingness to lead communications via the telephone over email.
- Knowledge of construction terms, some experience in different material types and knowledge of trade sub-contractor packages.
- A full UK driving license may be required.
