Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs in their earliest years?

We are seeking a dedicated and caring SENDCO to join a nurturing Early Years setting in Ottery St Mary on a part time basis to cover a minimum of 4 days per week 9:00 - 15:30. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SENDCO who is passionate about making a meaningful difference, confident in leading inclusive practice, and committed to helping every child thrive.

We work closely with our committee, families and local services to ensure the best outcomes for all children.

The role:

As SENDCO, you will play a key role in ensuring all children receive the support they need to thrive. You will work closely with practitioners, parents/carers, and external professionals to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This is an in-ratio SENDCO role, combining direct work with children in the room alongside responsibility for coordinating and supporting SEND provision across the setting.

Key responsibilities:

Lead and oversee SEND provision across Busy Otters
Support early identification of children with additional needs
Implement and monitor the Assess–Plan–Do–Review process
Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Support and advise staff on inclusive practice and strategies
Work closely with parents/carers to support children’s development
Liaise with external professionals (e.g. SALT, health visitors, SEND teams)
Maintain accurate SEND records and support funding/EHCP processes
Work alongside the Manager and committee to review SEND policy

What we're looking for:

We are looking for someone who is:

Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification
Level 3 SENCo qualification
Experience working with children with SEND
Good knowledge of the EYFS framework and SEND Code of Practice
Strong communication and organisational skills
A commitment to inclusive, child-centred practice
Experience supporting or mentoring staff
Experience with referrals, funding or EHCP processes
