Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable Tractor Operator / General Farm Worker to join our team on a busy organic family farm producing dairy, beef, pork and eggs for sale directly to the public.
This varied role primarily involves operating tractors/loaders and other farm machinery, as well as maintaining equipment, some livestock work, and assisting with maintenance and repairs around the farm.
The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of daily farm operation and have the ability to work solo or as part of a team.
Experience in operating tractors & various types of farm machinery is crucial. Experience in livestock husbandry, equipment repair and general maintenance is desirable. A valid UK driving licence is essential.
Weekly hours will be typically 30, but overtime will be available especially during busier periods. Could lead to full time position for the right candidate. Exact days and hours can be discussed.

Duties
- Operate tractors and other machinery in and between fields for various seasonal jobs including rolling, harrowing, overseeding, muckspreading, spraying (using organic seaweed fertilizer and other natural biostimulants), pasture topping & carting hay or silage bales back to the yard
- Transport equipment, livestock and feedstuffs between the home farm and our youngstock farm 20 miles away
- Fill pig & poultry feed hoppers using loader bucket
- Support livestock care by operating scraper tractor, bedding machinery and feeding machinery (bale slicer on loader)
- Transport livestock by road using tractor or the farm pickup
- Apply basic maths skills for measuring organic fertilisers, seed quantities, yields & feed records
- Maintain tidiness and organisation of work areas and equipment storage
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment
- Unloading deliveries of pallets etc, moving materials around the yards and buildings as required
- Assistance with on-farm maintenance and repair jobs around the buildings, yards & fields using hand tools & power tools
- Occasional assistance with livestock work
- Occasional use of 8t tracked excavator
- Occasional deliveries or collections made by road using our van
- Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a farm environment
- Basic understanding of farm maintenance routines and safety procedures
