Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Counter Assistant to join our healthcare team at our new branch in Blackbrook Taunton. Full training will be provided for those without any Pharmacy Experience.

The position is Full Time (40hrs) : Monday - Friday: 9am - 6pm, plus rotational Saturdays 9am - 1pm.
Part Time will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be predominantly based front of house, responsible for serving patients on the counter and delivering sound medical advise. You will assist with accurately dispensing medications, assisting with patient care, and ensuring the smooth operation of pharmacy services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient wellbeing while working in a supportive environment that values professionalism and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Providing face to face customer service to patients on the counter
Assist pharmacists with NHS services
Provide guidance to patients on medication usage, side effects, and storage instructions
Maintain precise records of dispensed medications and patient interactions
Support medication administration processes under supervision, ensuring compliance with safety standards
Organise stock levels, check expiry dates, and reorder supplies as necessary
Uphold strict confidentiality of patient information at all times
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and medication management

Qualifications

Prior experience as a pharmacy assistant or in a similar role is desirable
Knowledge of medication administration protocols and patient care practices
Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members
Ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Relevant qualifications or certifications in pharmacy practice are advantageous but not essential
