About the Role
At Speedybooker we’re on a mission to become the leading platform for specialist accommodation and leisure properties to operate and scale their businesses, backed by booking channels that are no.1 in their markets. We’re actively re-shaping how we build and deliver our product, and we’re looking for a Software Engineer to grow with us as we do it.
You’ll join a cross-functional engineering team with broad ownership across our entire platform. This is a role for someone who wants to become a genuinely strong engineer. You’ll write real code that ships, learn the domain properly, and be supported by experienced engineers through code review and collaboration.
We’re undergoing significant change, evolving our ways of working while tackling a re-platforming initiative. That means there’s a lot to learn and a lot to contribute to. You won’t be handed throwaway tickets in a corner; your work will matter and you’ll be able to see its impact.
We value engineers who are curious, honest about what they don’t yet know, who care about the product they’re building as well as the code they’re writing, and who treat the people they work with as capable adults.
We’re primarily a .NET / C# shop, but you don’t need to be an expert. What matters most is a solid grasp of programming fundamentals, a willingness to learn in context, and the drive to keep improving.
What You'll Work On
- A multi-brand PMS and booking platform with complex domain logic and real performance demands
- Building, testing, and shipping features across the stack, with support from senior engineers
- Contributing to a major re-platforming initiative and learning how sound technical decisions get made
- Modernising a .NET stack with genuine care for code quality, maintainability, and long-term sustainability
- A codebase where your work will be visible and your impact real
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Solid programming fundamentals: You can read and write clean, working code, whether that’s from a degree, a bootcamp, self-teaching, or a couple of years on the job
- Experience with, or genuine enthusiasm to learn, a backend-heavy language such as C# / .NET
- A growing testing discipline and real care about the quality of what you build
- Good written and verbal communication; you can ask clear questions and explain what you’ve done
- Curiosity and a growth mindset: You actively seek feedback and act on it
- Comfort with ambiguity and change, and a willingness to work in an agile environment
- Interest in understanding customer problems, not just the ticket in front of you
- Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and a willingness to build good instincts for when and how to use these tools well
Desirable
- Some commercial software experience (this is welcome but not required)
- Exposure to front-end development
- Familiarity with CI/CD, version control workflows, or automated testing
- Any hands-on exposure to practices like TDD, BDD, observability, or Infrastructure as Code
What We Offer
- £40,000 - £52,000, dependent on experience
- Hybrid working, with the option of working from home on Mondays and Fridays
- Real ownership of the work you take on, across a technically challenging platform
- Learning from experienced engineers who want you to succeed
- A dog-friendly office
Why Speedybooker?
We're a small team. That means there's nowhere to hide, but also nowhere to be invisible. The work you do here will matter, and you'll be able to see it.
We're in a period of deliberate change: improving how we build, what we build, and how we work together. If you want to join a team that's learning to do things properly, not just ship, this is a good moment to do it.
If this sounds like the kind of role you've been looking for, we'd like to hear from you.
Our Commitments
We are passionate for vendor success and customer satisfaction. When they succeed, so do we. Engage with vendors, customers and data to continually differentiate our product (and service), measure and refine, strive for perfection.
We are true teammates. Be willing to offer help and humble to accept it; share and use best practice; be clear and open with each other, respectfully candid, accountable for your results, and selfless to seek the best for the company, not just yourself or your group.
We are tenacious for personal excellence. Always look to learn and improve (growth mindset), be positive, be proactive not reactive; be disciplined not to cut corners for short-term gain; pay attention to detail; go the extra mile; and have fun!
We focus on fewer things. The highest value opportunities within our niches delivered at pace, automate and simplify where possible, recognise we can’t be all things to everyone, avoid customisation and ‘barnacles’ (long-term uneconomical complexity).
Benefits
- Opportunity to join an established ecommerce/software business with exciting growth plans for the future.
- Competitive salary (dependent on experience) plus pension contributions.
- Long-term bonus plan gives employees a share in growth in the value of the company.

- Free car parking.
- Paid for training.
- Company events & social time.
- Holiday allowance that rises to 28 days over time, plus bank holidays.
- Support the environment: we donate over £20,000 every year to environmental causes, including a donation from every booking to the World Land Trust.
- You will be joining a twenty-seven-strong team of fun and hard-working salespeople, account managers, and software developers with a high-performance culture.

We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences, including those who are underrepresented in the tech industry.
