About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Apprentice / Electrician’s Mate to join a growing renewable energy team working across new build residential developments throughout Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career in electrical engineering and Solar PV. You will work alongside experienced electricians, gaining hands-on experience with electrical installations, Solar PV systems and new build housing projects.
The successful candidate will be keen to learn, reliable and safety-conscious, with a genuine interest in developing a long-term career within the electrical and renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified electricians with electrical installation works on new build properties.
- Support the installation of Solar PV systems and associated electrical equipment.
- Assist with first-fix and second-fix electrical works.
- Help with the installation of cables, containment, isolators and electrical accessories.
- Assist with testing, commissioning and fault finding under supervision.
- Use hand tools and electrical equipment safely and correctly.
- Read and understand basic drawings and installation plans.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Follow all company health & safety procedures.
- Work alongside electricians and other site trades to complete projects on time.
- Travel between residential developments across Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.
- Take an active interest in learning and developing electrical skills.
Essential Requirements
- Genuine interest in becoming a qualified electrician.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Good practical and problem-solving ability.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence or working towards obtaining one.
- Comfortable working on new build construction sites.
Desirable Requirements
- Currently undertaking an Electrical Apprenticeship or electrical qualification.
- Previous experience as an Electrician’s Mate, Electrical Improver or Labourer.
- ECS card.
- CSCS card.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Previous construction or site experience.
- Interest in Solar PV and renewable energy.
- IPAF or other relevant site qualifications.
