Early Years Deputy Nursery Manager

Lancaster & Morecambe College, Morecambe Road, Lancaster, LA1 2TY
Salary:
£15.50 per hour
Hours:

Permanent, Minimum 35 hours per week. Shift Pattern: 4 days per week (Includes 2x 8:00am starts and 2x 6:00pm finishes)

Due to an exciting period of expansion, our welcoming, family-run private day nursery is growing! We now have a fantastic leadership position available at our beautifully equipped setting based at Lancaster and Morecambe college.

Are you an experienced Early Years leader looking for a role that perfectly balances hands-on teaching with dedicated management time? This unique role is meticulously split to give you the best of both worlds: 2 days office-based to focus on administration, compliance, and leadership, and 2 days counted in the floor ratios to inspire our staff and interact with our wonderful children.

Key Responsibilities

Nursery Leadership: Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of your designated site, stepping up to lead in their absence.
Office & Administration (2 Days): Manage parent enquiries, update learning software, assist with staff rotas, and ensure strict compliance with EYFS framework and Ofsted regulations.
Practice & Mentoring (2 Days): Work directly on the floor in ratio, role-modelling exceptional early years practice, mentoring room leaders, and ensuring high-quality care.
Safeguarding: Act as a Deputy DSL to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications: A minimum of a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (Level 5, Degree, or EYTS is highly desirable).
Experience: Proven experience as a Deputy Manager, Third-in-Charge, or an experienced Room Leader looking to step up, or a practitioner with more than 2 years experience.
Flexibility: Ability to work a rota that includes two 8:00am starts and two 6:00pm finishes.
Skills: Strong knowledge of the EYFS, excellent communication skills, and confidence using nursery management software.
