Assistant Product Technologist (£30-£35K)
Note that this is a temporary maternity leave position starting on or around 28th September 2026 and anticipated to last until January 2028.
At Jardox, we are the "Taste Behind the Brands." Based in Otford, Kent, we are a ‘one stop shop’ for all savoury ingredients. We specialise in stocks, gravies, curry pastes, marinades, glazes, sausage & burger seasonings and herb & spice-based products.
An Assistant Product Technologist works mainly within the office and factory at Jardox and reports into the Senior Product Technologist.
This role is responsible for ensuring that products are designed, developed, and manufactured to meet technical, quality, and regulatory standards. You will work closely with product managers, designers and engineers to bridge the gap between product vision and practical execution.
Responsibilities:
- Product set up and data input into our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Maintain line sheets against the Retail Production Plan
- Carry out daily visits to the factory and ensure finished products meet required standards
- Apply cleaning instructions onto production dashboards
- Perform production orders substitutions / updates
- Complete new and updating existing line sheets, including printing files and label creation
- Take part in product quality assessments to include made products and raw materials.
- Carry out product shelf-life extension (intermediates and finished products)
- Deal with Production requests, including labels, line sheets, print file updates and support with problematic product manufacturing.
- Collaborate with our Development Team to develop technically feasible and high-quality products.
- Support the entire development process, from launch to finished product stage, including troubleshooting product/process challenges during product development and post-launch.
- Observe new production runs and take necessary actions if needed
- Support and liaise with all Jardox departments, such as Planning, Customer Services, Sales, Accounts, Marketing
- Assist Technical/Quality and our Compliance Team with all quality, integrity and food safety issues
- Drive Continuous Improvement and promote our Food Safety Culture within the business
- Provide support in newly arising challenges
- Attend Product Technologist, New Product Development and Operations meetings as and when required
Hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. The team are welcome to leave at 4.30pm if all work for the day has been completed.
We close between Christmas and New Year and contribute to your pension at a rate of 5.5%. Holiday allowance is 33 days per year (including bank holidays).
