About Cultivate
Cultivate is dedicated to supporting a resilient local food economy and community wellbeing. The Get Cooking, Get Growing, Get Skills (GCGGGS) project, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, is an initiative running across our established Newtown Pendinas hub and our emerging hub at the Welshpool Integrated Family Centre.
The project aims to create "Active Food Citizens" by helping people grow and cook their own food, increasing access to healthy and affordable food, boosting community cohesion, and enhancing physical and mental wellbeing. As we enter the next phase of delivery, our focus is on building consistent engagement, deepening volunteer progression into leadership, and securing long-term sustainability.
Job Description
· To provide strategic leadership, financial oversight, and operational management for the successful delivery of the GCGGGS project across both the Newtown and Welshpool sites. To monitor project expenditure and manage operational budgets.
· Ensure all operations are compliant with relevant health & safety, employment, safeguarding and other statutory regulations.
· Oversee effective day-to-day management, provide support and line-manage to the multi-disciplinary project delivery team, including coordinator, workshop leaders, and support staff.
· To identify, apply for, and secure external capital and revenue funding to support project infrastructure and long-term sustainability.
· To maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships with cross-sector delivery partners, referral agencies, and community stakeholders.
· To oversee the project’s mixed-methods evaluation framework, ensuring quantitative metrics and qualitative "micro-wins" are effectively captured to demonstrate behaviour change.
· To champion the project's Welsh Language Action Plan, ensuring bilingual communication principles and the "Active Offer" are embedded across all delivery models.
Person Description (E = Essential, P = Preferred)
· Proven track record in managing grant-funded community, third-sector, or environmental projects E
· Experience managing project budgets, compliance and financial tracking E
· Demonstrated success in securing match funding, capital grants, or external revenue sources E
· Experience leading, motivating, and line-managing a staff team and coordinating volunteer structures E
· An organised and systematic approach to project management but with the capacity to be flexible to meet changing operational and community needs E
· Alignment with the project’s core values regarding food security, social inclusion, and horticulture E
· Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. E
· Able to drive and have use of your own vehicle for business use between the Newtown and Welshpool delivery hubs E
· Ability to speak, read, and write in Welsh, or a commitment to supporting bilingualism in line with our Welsh Action Plan P
