Looking for a role where you can make a real difference to students who need it most and help create a calm, supportive school environment where everyone can thrive?

As an Assistant Pastoral Manager, you will play a key role in supporting behaviour, attendance, wellbeing, and engagement for vulnerable students. Working alongside the Pastoral Manager, you’ll help ensure students feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed in school. Your work will strengthen relationships with students and families, support positive behaviour, and provide the consistent pastoral care that underpins strong academic outcomes.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

The role:

As an Assistant Pastoral Manager, you will provide targeted, day‑to‑day pastoral support to students, particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk of disengagement. You will work closely with the Pastoral Manager and wider teams to identify needs, implement interventions, and monitor impact on attendance, behaviour, and learning.

You will support behaviour systems across the school, respond to incidents, and help maintain a calm and purposeful learning environment. This will include on‑call duties, lesson visits, and supporting students to remain engaged in their learning.

You will build strong relationships with students and families, contribute to meetings and intervention planning, and work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to ensure joined‑up support. Your role will be vital in promoting positive behaviour, safeguarding students’ wellbeing, and reducing barriers to success.

Build positive relationships with students and families, promoting trust and engagement
Work closely with colleagues to support students facing challenges with behaviour, attendance and wellbeing
Act quickly and effectively to de‑escalate situations and keep students engaged in learning
Help remove barriers so that vulnerable students can succeed and feel included
Promote high expectations, celebrating improvement and encouraging positive choices
Be a visible, reliable and supportive presence for students throughout the school day
