About the Team

As one of a team, the post holder will also contribute to the general development and review of the team and service, and support in any other work related to the purpose of the IT Service,

Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this apprenticeship post is to provide effective, professional, and high-quality support in relation to artificial intelligence and automation across the Council’s digital estate, supporting services to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance service delivery.

As part of this role, the post holder will complete the AI & Automation Specialist Level 4 Apprenticeship, developing practical skills in applying AI and automation to real-world business challenges.

This role will work across a wide range of digital and service improvement activities, supporting the design, implementation and ongoing development of AI and automation solutions.

This will include:

Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and reduce manual effort
Supporting the design, testing and delivery of automation solutions
Assisting with process mapping, data preparation and user testing
Helping to develop training materials and support adoption of new tools

The role offers a flexible and blended learning experience, applying skills to real-life scenarios across council services

The IT Apprentice will have a strong interest in AI, automation and digital innovation, who is keen to begin or develop a career in this rapidly growing area.
