The Role
Kembla is looking for an experienced and appropriately qualified Senior Electrical Engineer – Solar PV & Battery Storage to join our growing technical team.
This is a senior technical role focused on the electrical design, compliance, technical approval and safe delivery of Solar PV and battery-storage systems across both commercial and domestic projects.
The successful candidate will also act as a key source of technical electrical advice to our Project Managers, designers, electricians, installation teams and subcontractors, ensuring our systems meet current UK Solar PV, battery-storage and electrical regulations.
This is a technical engineering position rather than a people-management role.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce, review and approve electrical designs for Solar PV and battery-storage systems.
- Produce and review SLDs, schematics, cable calculations and electrical design documentation.
- Advise on AC/DC cable sizing, protection, isolation, earthing, bonding and surge protection.
- Review inverter selection, string configuration and battery integration.
- Assess existing electrical infrastructure and suitability for Solar PV and EESS connections.
- Provide technical advice to Project Managers, electricians, designers and installation teams.
- Review and resolve electrical and technical issues during installation and commissioning.
- Support inspection, testing, commissioning and certification.
- Review internally and externally produced electrical designs.
- Support G98, G99 and G100 applications and more complex DNO queries.
- Ensure designs and installations comply with current UK electrical, Solar PV and battery-storage requirements.
- Work closely with Kembla's Solar PV Design Engineer, who will focus primarily on physical system layouts and performance design.
- Support the development of Kembla's technical standards, approved products and design procedures.
