Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will support senior chefs in preparing high-quality dishes, ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment. The position is paid and suitable for those eager to gain valuable experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management.

Duties

Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs
Ensure all dishes are prepared according to specified recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Support with food presentation and garnishing to meet quality standards
Help manage stock levels, organise ingredients, and assist with inventory checks
Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with colleagues
Follow health and safety procedures diligently during all kitchen activities
Support in supervising junior staff or trainees when required, demonstrating leadership qualities

Skills

Proven experience in food production, food preparation, and cooking within a professional kitchen or hospitality setting
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Previous experience supervising or managing team members is desirable
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and senior staff
Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Knowledge of restaurant operations, serving procedures, and culinary techniques
Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment and maintain high standards of quality and safety
