Shred Station is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and hard-working HGV Class 2 Chain Skip Driver to join our growing team based at our Norwich depot.
This is a local day-run role, operating one of our specialist chain skip vehicles and carrying out collections and deliveries for customers across the local area.
You'll be responsible for the safe collection, transportation and delivery of chain skips, working with a variety of waste and recyclable materials. This is a hands-on role, so you'll need to be comfortable working outdoors, carrying out manual tasks and getting involved with the day-to-day operation of the vehicle.
The role operates Monday to Friday, with start times typically between 5:00am and 6:00am, and you'll finish when the day's work is complete.
You'll be home every night, with no regular nights away, making this an ideal opportunity for a Class 2 driver looking for a stable local driving role.
The Role
As part of our transport team, you will:
- Operate a specialist HGV Class 2 Chain Skip vehicle.
- Carry out local skip collections and deliveries.
- Safely load, secure, transport and exchange chain skips.
- Collect a variety of waste and recyclable materials from customer sites.
- Carry out local day runs and return to the Rackheath depot each day.
- Start between 5:00am and 6:00am, Monday to Friday.
- Work on a task-to-finish basis with a guaranteed minimum 40-hour contract.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects promptly.
- Represent Shred Station professionally when dealing with customers and site staff.
- Complete electronic collection notes and associated paperwork accurately.
Main Duties
- Drive the company vehicle safely, legally and professionally.
- Collect and deliver chain skips to customer sites.
- Safely position and exchange skips in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure loads are secure and transported safely at all times.
- Deal with a variety of waste streams and recyclable materials.
- Carry out manual handling duties where required.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and roadworthy vehicle.
- Complete daily vehicle safety checks.
- Report any vehicle defects, operational issues or customer concerns promptly.
- Comply with all DVSA regulations, Drivers' Hours legislation, the Working Time Directive and company procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent Shred Station to a high professional standard.
What You'll Need
- Valid Category C (Class 2) Driving Licence.
- Driver CPC Qualification Card.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous HGV Class 2 driving experience is preferred.
- Chain skip or skip collection experience is preferred but not essential.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual handling duties.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Willing to undertake training on all aspects of the role.
Security Screening
Due to the nature of our business, successful applicants will be required to complete security screening to BS7858 standards, including:
- Five-year employment and residence history check.
- DBS check.
- Financial history check.
Additional security vetting, including checks by UK Police Forces and up to UK Government Security Clearance (SC) level, may also be required depending on customer requirements.

Experience
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving: 1 year (preferred)
- Chain skip or skip collection experience: preferred but not essential
- Waste or recycling industry experience: advantageous
