Paint Plant Team Leader
Responsibilities
-
Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards.

Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements.

Ensure full adherence to 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) practices at all times.
-
Ensure equipment is within calibration date and all systems are functioning correctly.
-
Ensure all records are completed appropriately.
-
Ensure that non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated.
-
Ensure that the escalation procedure for quality concerns is followed.
-
Ensure achievement of production throughput against stated capacity targets.
-
Ensure the team are aware of day-to-day targets and responsibilities.
-
Ensure stock transactions are carried out accurately.
-
Complete all works orders.
-
Maintain visible leadership for adherence to procedures and instructions.
-
Monitor changeover and line set-up efficiency.
-
Prepare line set-ups for following shifts, including first-piece buy-offs.
-
Monitor and maintain all safety equipment and tools.
-
Undertake continuous training and development.
-
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
-
Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation.
-
Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks within the department.
-
Support, comply with and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.

Ensure the area of responsibility is appropriately resourced to meet Health & Safety requirements with suitably trained personnel.
-
Manage time and attendance for operatives within the area of responsibility.
-
Communicate with staff regularly to ensure they understand priorities, targets and operational requirements.
-
Support recruitment and train staff on products and processes.
-
Monitor performance and progress to ensure targets are achieved.
-
Report progress, key achievements and concerns to the Supervisor and/or Manager.
-
Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and ensure actions are completed.
-
Monitor completion of tasks and ensure performance is recorded on the appropriate systems.
-
Lead by example, promoting high standards at all times.
-
Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure employees understand expectations and deliverables.
-
Provide technical product support within the team and respond to operator queries.
-
Work positively with support functions to define processes, procedures and controls relevant to team activities.
-
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Required Education, Skills, Training and Experience
Education
Essential
-
GCSE Grade A–C (or equivalent), IVQ Technician Certificate, BTEC First Certificate or NVQ Level 2.
Desirable
-
Willingness to work towards a recognised Supervisory qualification (e.g. NEBS).

Health & Safety Responsibilities

Understand and implement the Health & Safety Policy, standards and legal requirements applicable to the area of responsibility.

Implement site safety rules.

Train, instruct and supervise employees to ensure safe working practices.

Complete all allocated Health & Safety training within the required timescales.

Ensure employees are aware of first aid arrangements, hazard reporting procedures and emergency evacuation processes.

Take immediate action to address uncontrolled hazards and escalate where necessary.

Investigate accidents and incidents promptly and report findings to the Manager.

Ensure plant, machinery and equipment are safe to use and daily checks are completed.
-
Ensure personal protective equipment is worn and used correctly.
-
Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the department.
-
Carry out workplace inspections in accordance with the site audit programme and report any outstanding issues.
