Alifab (Welding & Fabrication) Ltd are looking for a CNC Laser Operator / Programmer to join our team in Stoke-on-Trent.
We’re open to applications from experienced laser operators who can work independently, as well as candidates from a CNC or sheet-metal background who have the right attitude and are looking to develop their skills.
The starting rate will reflect existing laser operating, programming and engineering drawing experience, with further progression available as skills and responsibilities develop.
Key responsibilities
- Operate CNC laser cutting machinery safely and efficiently
- Load and unload sheet material
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Select the correct materials and programs for each job
- Check finished parts against drawings and job requirements
- Carry out basic machine checks and maintain a clean working area
- Work with production to ensure jobs are completed on time
- Use or develop skills in Radan drawing, nesting and programming
- Help improve machine utilisation and reduce material waste
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience operating CNC or manufacturing machinery
- Experience within sheet-metal manufacturing, engineering or fabrication
- Good computer skills and willingness to learn new software
- Some experience reading engineering drawings, or a willingness to learn
- Good organisation and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, positive and able to work as part of a team
Desirable experience
- Previous CNC laser operating experience
- Experience using Radan to draw, nest and create programs
- Experience operating Bystronic or similar laser machinery
- Forklift experience or a valid forklift licence
- Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
