Formed from the merger of Barvek Engineering and Bland Fabrications in 2024, Barvek & Bland combine the precision engineering capabilities of Barvek, and the fabrication capabilities of Bland, to form a new, well-rounded, turn-key engineering sub contractor. Customer satisfaction, providing high-quality end products, completing within agreed timescales and competitive pricing are our key priorities. All types of engineering work is undertaken, and we specialise in producing ready made engineering assemblies, with all operations taken care of for the customer. We are growing at a fast pace and require a skilled machinist to assist us with the increasing workload.
Roles & Responsibilities
Within this role you will:
- Learn to perform machining operations such as drilling, tapping, milling, turning and so on during the production of components.
- Use a variety of machines including lathes, milling machines & manual equipment.
- Learn to understand and interpret engineering drawings independently in the production of components.
- Use metrology equipment to ensure accuracy of components.
- Be enrolled on, and complete a Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship qualification.
As part of a small and fast-growing company, you will work both collaboratively and independently. When required, you will work under your own initiative and take responsibility to solve problems.
Your skills & qualifications
· Competent mathematics skills.
· You work well under pressure and strive to help the business meet deadlines.
· You are flexible, organised and can use your own initiative.
· You are confident, polite & enjoy working with people.
· You have good attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
· You are keen to learn and continue your personal learning and development.
· A qualification in engineering or similar is desirable but not essential.
Your experience
· A relevant engineering qualification is desirable, but not essential.

Salary
The hourly rate for this role will begin at £10.85/hour which is above the apprentice minimum wage by a substantial margin. Pay will be reviewed yearly as academic and vocational targets are met.
Hours
You will be contracted to 39.75 hours working the following:
Monday – Thursday 7:15am – 4:30pm
Friday 7:15am – 1:30pm
Overtime may be available during busier periods.
