Full job description

We are a well-established accountancy firm based in Stowmarket looking to recruit an accounts assistant to join our VAT team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, busy and professional team. This role would suit someone looking to progress and develop within the accountancy industry

Responsibilities:

Completing VAT Returns using appropriate software under the guidance of senior team members
Assisting with bookkeeping, including processing transactions, reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate records
Acting as the first point of contact for clients regarding their financial accounting and bookkeeping records, providing telephone and email support.

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and expertise

Good knowledge of VAT legislation and experience completing VAT returns
Bookkeeping experience
Knowledge of accounting software i.e. Xero, Sage and Quickbooks preferred
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word
Strong communication skills – verbal and written
Organised and proactive with good attention to detail
Ability to work on own initiative
Good team player
Ability to manage varying priorities and workloads
