Full job description

Job Title: Teaching & Learner Mentor – Construction

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £43,562 – £46,360 per annum*

Annual Leave: 42 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

Hours: 37 hours per week

Abatement: 6 hours per week

Teaching Hours: 660 per annum

Pension: Teachers’ Pension Scheme

Please note, the above is based on a full time Teaching & Learning Mentor inclusive of Lecturing hours.

Job Role

We are seeking a Teaching & Learning Mentor to support and inspire teaching excellence across the Construction faculty while continuing to deliver high-quality teaching. In this role, you will mentor and coach staff, share best practice, support teaching observations and drive innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment to improve student outcomes. If you have a proven track record of excellent teaching and a passion for helping others succeed, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

To design, develop and deliver creative staff development opportunities for college teaching staff and support assistants.
To plan and deliver classroom observations, which could be subject to external validation.
To facilitate the development of Technology Enhanced Learning strategies within course teams.
To identify staff development needs within specific curriculum teams and areas.

Qualifications

To hold a relevant qualification at level 4 or above.
To be a qualified Teacher or must be prepared to commence an appropriate teaching qualification on appointment to the post.
Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) or willing to work towards it.

Experience

To have significant, successful, and current teaching experience.
Not required any follow ups for the last two academic years in Teaching & Learning Lesson Visits.
To have evidence of teaching strategies that consistently and effectively produces high student retention and achievement.
Mentoring or coaching experience.

Knowledge & Skills

Have recent knowledge and application of technology enhanced learning strategies.
Good oral and written communication skills with a capacity to manage challenging conversations and deal effectively with staff, students, parents, employers, and others.
To have excellent time management and organisational skills.
