Full job description

Art Therapist - Self-Employed
Contract: Self-employed / freelance
Hours: 1 day per week (flexible)
Start Date: September 2026

Knowl Hill School is an independent specialist school supporting pupils aged 7–16 with dyslexia and associated learning differences, alongside anxiety and school phobia. The Bisley campus provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment with small class sizes and a strong focus on emotional wellbeing and personalised learning.

We are seeking a compassionate and creative self-employed Art Therapist to join our therapeutic team for one day per week.

You will deliver individual and small group art therapy sessions, supporting pupils to explore emotions, build confidence, and develop self-regulation skills through creative expression.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, pupil-centred art therapy sessions
Support emotional wellbeing, communication, and self-expression
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and other therapists
Maintain appropriate records and contribute to pupil support plans
Create a safe, inclusive and therapeutic environment

About You:

Qualified Art Therapist (HCPC registered or working towards)
Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN
Understanding of neurodiversity, anxiety, and emotional needs
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Flexible, reliable, and able to work independently
