About the Role

At BZT Auto Parts and Engineering Services, we supply automotive components, engineering solutions and technical support to commercial customers and industry partners.
We are looking for an Engineering Operations Manager who can take ownership of engineering operations, technical resources and continuous improvement initiatives across the business. You will work closely with engineering teams, production, procurement, quality, logistics and commercial departments to ensure operational efficiency, product quality and on time project delivery.
This role is suited to an experienced engineering professional who can combine technical expertise with operational leadership. You will oversee engineering performance, optimise workflows, manage resources and support strategic business objectives through effective operational planning. Engineering Operations Managers commonly improve operational performance through resource planning, process optimisation, workforce management and performance reporting across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Operations: Manage the day to day engineering operations while ensuring safe, efficient and reliable service delivery.
- Team Leadership: Lead engineers, technical specialists, supervisors and support employees while promoting collaboration and accountability.
- Operational Planning: Develop engineering work plans, resource schedules and operational priorities to meet customer and business requirements.
- Project Coordination: Oversee engineering projects from planning through completion while maintaining quality, cost and schedule objectives.
- Resource Management: Allocate engineering personnel, equipment and technical resources to maximise operational efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical improvements that increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop and monitor key performance indicators covering engineering productivity, quality, utilisation and project delivery.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage operational budgets while monitoring engineering expenditure and resource utilisation.
- Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality teams to ensure products and engineering activities comply with company procedures and customer requirements.
- Health and Safety: Promote safe working practices and ensure engineering operations comply with applicable health and safety regulations.
- Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to support engineering activities, equipment maintenance and technical services.
- Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective communication with customers, suppliers, project teams and senior management regarding engineering performance.
- Operational Reporting: Prepare regular management reports covering engineering performance, project progress, operational risks and improvement initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in engineering operations, manufacturing, automotive engineering or industrial operations, including management responsibility.
- Education: Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering operations, manufacturing processes, production planning and technical project delivery.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage operational performance.
- Operational Management: Experience managing engineering resources, budgets, maintenance programmes and operational improvement initiatives.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate engineering data, identify operational trends and implement practical business improvements.
- Commercial Awareness: Understanding of operational costs, resource planning, productivity and customer service expectations.
- Communication: Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and commercial teams.
- Technology Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, enterprise resource planning systems, engineering software and operational reporting platforms.
- Organisation: Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple engineering priorities simultaneously.
- Continuous Improvement: Experience implementing structured operational improvements that strengthen productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.
Pay: £55,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
