Full job description

Alchemy Community Care is an organisation providing high-nurture, trauma-informed support to young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs within a respite setting. Within our service we offer safety, stability, and a therapeutic environment where young people can thrive, and live full lives reaching their desired goals.

Are you a compassionate, resilient and reliable Support Worker looking for a rewarding long-term role where you can make a real difference?
We are now recruiting Residential Support Workers to join our team to work with a young people in a respite setting in Pembrokeshire.

Overview:

Title: Respite Support Worker
Salary: £14.41 per hour (+ sleepover rate)
Location: Pembrokeshire
Shifts: 2 long days + 2 sleep-ins → 4 days off.
Start Date: Aug/Sept 2026
Employment Type: Full and Part time, permanent
Service: Respite (complex needs, trauma-informed)

Your Responsibilities:

Build trusting, supportive relationships with young people
Support daily routines, education, life skills and activities
Promote independence, resilience and emotional development
Use trauma-informed and PBS approaches
Manage challenging behaviours professionally
Maintain safeguarding and regulatory standards
Complete accurate daily records and reports
Work collaboratively with the wider care and clinical team

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

Caring, patient and emotionally resilient
Reliable, honest and professional
Able to stay calm during challenging situations
Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

Experience in children’s residential care, youth work or SEN
Level 3 Diploma Children & Young People (or willingness to work towards)
Full UK driving licence
Experience supporting young people with complex needs
