As a growing SEMH provision, we are continually increasing the breadth of our academic offer and are therefore looking to increase the capacity of our teaching team. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who would like to work within an academic SEMH provision and to provide positive education opportunities at Oakwood House.
As a school that caters for students with SEMH needs, our students can be very anxious about their academic studies and will need someone who is creative, patient and kind to help them develop their confidence.
We welcome applications from those who have experience in working with young people but do not have formal teaching qualifications. Our ideal candidate is someone who would like the chance to develop their confidence in a classroom setting including developing a creative curriculum, structured lessons and interventions with the support of a cohesive staff team and a dedicated SLT.
Experience with students who have SEMH needs is beneficial but not essential as we pride ourselves on providing access to training and support in developing this skillset.
Duties:
- Safeguarding is a priority and is everyone's responsibility. You will be expected to understand how to raise and report concerns. Training will be given to ensure that you are able to follow the correct procedures and how to identify potential child protection concerns
- All pupils benefit from the directives of their EHCP. Most have social emotional and mental health needs. Experience of working with this profile would be desirable.
- - Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons to students- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress and behaviour- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills
- - Skills: Strong knowledge of subject matter and ability to effectively teach it
- - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- - Patience and ability to work with diverse groups of students
- - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- - Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students
- - Proficient in using technology for instructional purposes
- - Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.
- All applicants will be expected to follow the teachers standards, especially on conduct as set by the DofE.
- Qualifications - Degree in Education or related field preferable
- - Previous teaching experience preferred, but not required
