Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day manufacturing activities and support the safe, efficient and consistent delivery of production targets.
The successful candidate will coordinate production teams, monitor workflow, maintain quality standards and ensure that machinery, materials and staffing resources are used effectively. Duties
⦁ Supervise daily production activities and ensure that output, quality and delivery targets are achieved.
⦁ Allocate tasks to production employees according to workload, skills and operational priorities.
⦁ Monitor production schedules and make practical adjustments when delays, equipment problems or staffing issues arise.
⦁ Conduct shift briefings and communicate production targets, safety requirements and operational updates clearly.
⦁ Ensure that employees follow approved operating procedures, quality standards and workplace safety rules.
⦁ Monitor the availability and correct use of raw materials, packaging and production supplies.
⦁ Work closely with maintenance teams to report equipment faults, coordinate repairs and minimise production downtime.
⦁ Inspect production areas and finished output to identify quality concerns, process failures or non-conforming products.
⦁ Support investigations into production issues and implement corrective or preventive actions.
⦁ Maintain accurate records relating to production output, downtime, waste, quality checks and employee attendance.
⦁ Train and support new production employees while providing ongoing guidance to existing team members.
⦁ Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback to maintain productivity and workplace standards.
⦁ Ensure that production areas remain clean, organised and compliant with housekeeping requirements.
⦁ Coordinate with warehouse, engineering, quality and logistics teams to maintain a smooth flow of materials and finished goods.
⦁ Support continuous-improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve efficiency and strengthen product quality.
⦁ Escalate significant safety, quality, staffing or equipment concerns to production management promptly.
Requirements
⦁ Proven experience in manufacturing, production operations or a similar industrial environment.
⦁ Previous experience supervising or coordinating production employees is required.
⦁ Good understanding of production planning, workflow management and performance targets.
⦁ Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures within a manufacturing environment.
⦁ Experience monitoring product quality and supporting corrective actions.
⦁ Ability to manage employees, assign responsibilities and maintain team motivation.
⦁ Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage changing production priorities.
⦁ Good problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to equipment failures or operational delays.
⦁ Ability to maintain accurate production records and prepare clear shift reports.
⦁ Strong communication skills when working with production teams, managers and supporting departments.
⦁ Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to wider operational objectives.
⦁ Experience using production-management, inventory or manufacturing software would be advantageous.
⦁ Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement or waste-reduction methods is desirable.
⦁ A qualification in manufacturing, engineering, operations management or a related discipline would be beneficial but is not essential.
