Full job description

Role: HGV Apprentice

Location: Dumfries

Hours: Full time

Salary: £21,000 per annum

Our team of over 350 employees operates across ten sites in Scotland and North East England.

What Will You Be Doing?

As an HGV Apprentice Driver, you will begin your journey towards becoming a fully qualified Class 2 Driver while gaining practical experience within our operations.

During your apprenticeship, you will initially operate a company van while developing your knowledge and completing your formal HGV training. You will be responsible for:

Driving a company van to support operational collections and deliveries
Assisting experienced HGV drivers on routes to gain hands on experience
Learning how to safely operate HGV vehicles in line with legal requirements
Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects
Following all health and safety and road safety regulations
Providing excellent customer service at collection and delivery points
Working towards achieving your HGV licence and CPC qualification

This role combines structured training with real operational experience, preparing you to transition into a fully qualified HGV Driver position upon successful completion of the programme.

What Are We Looking For?

A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Good communication skills and a team focused attitude
Commitment to health and safety standards
A full UK driving licence (Category B)
Ability to meet the medical requirements for HGV licensing

No previous HGV experience is required. We will fully support you through your licence acquisition and ongoing development.
