We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Early Years Educator to join our childcare team. This paid apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about working with children and pursuing a career in early childhood education. The role involves supporting the development and care of young children within a nurturing environment, while gaining valuable hands-on experience and training. Duties
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities tailored to children's developmental stages
- Support children's daily routines, including meal times, play, rest, and learning sessions
- Observe and record children's progress, behaviour, and interests to inform future activities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication
- Support the management team with organisational tasks related to early years provision
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to develop childcare skills and knowledge
- Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equality
Skills
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Genuine interest in working with children and supporting their development
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating leadership qualities when appropriate
- Organised with good management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently
- Previous nursery or childcare experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles is desirable
- Valid driving licence is beneficial for travel between different childcare settings or activities
- Ability to remain patient, caring, and attentive in a dynamic environment

The successful candidate will work towards their Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. You will need to travel to Norwich City College one day, every other week.
The position is for 30hrs per week, all year round. Candidates must be able to work between the hours of 8am-5pm, hours to be discussed at interview.
Candidates will need to be flexible, occasionally working longer hours as necessary, to cover other staff absences. The position will commence in September 2026.
The nursery is open Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and 8am-4pm on a Friday. The nursery is closed on all Bank Holidays and the Christmas to New Year period. We also close for another two weeks during the year. This is decided at the beginning of the year.
Little Learners Nursery is a very busy, happy, friendly nursery, ran from a domestic premises, situated in Fakenham. We provide high quality childcare and education for children aged between six months-five years old, in a home from home setting.
We are committed to safeguarding the children in our care. Appointment to this position is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and signing up to the update service. You will also need to complete an EY2 form. You must be able to provide two suitable references. Safeguarding and First Aid training will be provided.
