Job description

Newthorpe Medical Practice is a small, friendly surgery with approximately 8200 patients, 4 GP Partners, 3 Practice Nurses, a Pharmacist, a Paramedic and a full team of support staff. Based in Eastwood, we offer patients a full range of primary care services, in comfortable modern surroundings. Our patients value our approach and the continuity of care we provide.

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the practice, supporting infection prevention and control, and ensuring a safe, pleasant environment for patients, visitors and staff. The role covers both clinical and non-clinical areas, following the practice's cleaning schedule and infection control procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Clean and maintain all practice areas to a high standard, including waiting rooms, consulting rooms, treatment rooms, toilets, offices and staff areas.
Follow the practice's cleaning schedule and infection control protocols, including colour-coded equipment systems.
Safely store, use and dispose of cleaning chemicals and materials in line with COSHH regulations.
Empty and dispose of general and clinical waste in accordance with practice policy.
Report any maintenance issues, breakages or hygiene concerns to the Senior Management Teampromptly.
Restock consumables such as hand soap, paper towels and toilet supplies as needed.
Ensure cleaning equipment is kept clean, in good working order and stored securely.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, particularly regarding patient information that may be visible during cleaning duties.
Complete any cleaning records or checklists required by the practice.
Attend mandatory training, including infection control, COSHH and health and safety, as required.

Working Hours
A total of 15 hours split over the following days:

Monday to Friday 3pm - 6pm.

Working hours subject to change due to the needs of the practice.

Annual holiday entitlement in any holiday year is 5.6 weeks, inclusive of all public holiday entitlement.
