Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Dog Walker and pet sitter to join our pet care team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional dog walking services, ensuring the animals' safety, happiness, and well-being during their outings. This role offers an excellent opportunity for animal lovers to work outdoors and stay active while delivering high-quality care to our clients' pets. The position is paid and suitable for individuals who are passionate about animal care and possess strong customer service skills.
You must hold a full UK licence to get from job to job. From Tunbridge wells, Wadhurst, area varies and can be discussed upon interview.
Please be aware that work is not guaranteed, particularly when you first join. As you build your experience and establish yourself, you may receive more regular bookings over time. We offer a combination of regular ongoing slots and one-off jobs, so the amount of work available can vary from week to week. You may have a busy week with several jobs and a quieter week with fewer opportunities.
The role is therefore best suited to someone who is comfortable with a flexible and variable workload, rather than someone looking for a guaranteed number of hours or a fixed weekly income.
Responsibilities
- Walk dogs of various sizes and temperaments in designated neighbourhoods or parks, adhering to scheduled appointments.
- Ensure the safety of all dogs during walks, managing behaviour and preventing any potential hazards.
- Provide basic animal care, including feeding, administering medication if required, and monitoring health indicators.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including cleaning up after dogs during walks.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ behaviour, health, and any concerns that arise during walks.
- Follow specific instructions from pet owners regarding handling, walking routes, and special needs of individual animals.
- Uphold the organisation’s standards of professionalism, punctuality, and compassionate animal care at all times.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal handling is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of animal care practices and behaviour management.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as handling dog leashes or carrying supplies.
- Passionate about animals with a genuine interest in providing quality care and companionship.
- Ability to schedule walk and pet sits and manage time effectivel.
