Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Commis Chef to join our team at Peterborough's number 1 seafood restaurant. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will assist Adam, our chef-patron in preparing high-quality dishes, ensuring adherence to food safety standards, and gaining valuable culinary experience. This paid role is ideal for individuals passionate about pursuing a career in the hospitality industry and eager to learn and grow their skills. A passion for fish and seafood is essential.

Duties

Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
Support the kitchen team in cooking and assembling dishes according to recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to hygiene regulations
Help with meal preparation for service periods, ensuring timely delivery of orders
Follow food safety protocols at all times to ensure the safety and quality of food served
Assist with stock rotation, storage, and inventory checks as directed by senior staff
Support the team during busy service times by serving as a reliable team member
Participate in training sessions aimed at developing culinary skills and knowledge

Qualifications

Passion for food preparation and cooking with a keen interest in developing culinary skills
Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is desirable but not essential
Basic understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to learn new techniques and take direction
Previous experience in serving or hospitality roles is advantageous but not required

Pay: £10.85-£38,036.48 per hour
