Full job description

Job Overview

We are a family run poultry business looking for a poultry farm assistant. We are looking to find an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team The position includes a brand new 2 bedroom lodge set in a rural location within the farm boundary.

.The successful candidate would be responsible for helping the manager and Assistant Manager in all day to day aspects of the poultry farm including animal welfare, site safety and cleanliness, management and maintenance of the woodchip boilers.

An up to date poultry passport is preferred however for the right candidate training can be provided.

Duties

Assist with daily feeding, watering, and general care of broiler chickens to ensure their health and well-being
Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation systems to maintain optimal living conditions
Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment, wood chip boilers, including cleaning, minor repairs, and troubleshooting using hand tools and power tools
Conduct regular inspections of the poultry houses for cleanliness, biosecurity measures, and animal health issues
Assist with equipment repairs and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency
Handle heavy lifting tasks related to, equipment parts, or supplies while adhering to safety protocols

Requirements

Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and familiarity with hand tools and power tools for maintenance tasks
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively in a farm environment
Strong animal care skills with an understanding of poultry husbandry practices
Basic math skills for record keeping, measurements, and inventory management
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with a proactive attitude towards safety
any knowledge of biomass boilers would be an advantage
