Overview
We are seeking a motivated, organised and detail-oriented Apprentice Administrator to join our growing team at RDM Electrical & Mechanical Services. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in business administration while gaining valuable experience within a professional engineering and construction environment.
Working alongside our experienced estimating team and Office Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the administration of a wide range of electrical and mechanical building services projects. No previous experience is required as full training will be provided, alongside support to achieve your Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.
This paid apprenticeship is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys working in a fast-paced office environment and wants to develop valuable administrative, organisational and IT skills.
Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Administrator, your duties will include:
- Monitoring and managing the enquiries inbox.
- Logging new enquiries and maintaining the estimating register.
- Filing project documentation and updating document trackers.
- Managing incoming and outgoing tender documentation.
- Controlling document revisions and maintaining accurate filing systems.
- Liaising with the estimating team to support project delivery.
- Coordinating enquiries with suppliers and subcontractors, including issuing and following up information requests.
- Tracking project information including programme dates, tender durations and tender returns.
- Assisting with the preparation of tender proposals, Requests for Information (RFIs) and other project documentation.
- Supporting the estimating team with quantity take-offs.
- Setting up projects within estimating software.
- Printing and preparing project documentation.
- Producing schedules and reports.
- Assisting with research into building services products and systems.
- Supporting the completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs).
- Working closely with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Assisting the Office Manager and Document Controller with day-to-day administrative duties.
- Attending college or a training provider (typically one day per week) to complete the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.
Requirements

- Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
- Confidence using computers and the ability to learn new software systems.
- A positive attitude, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.
- An interest in learning about building services engineering and renewable technologies.
Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in core subject - English/Maths/IT/Science.
Experience
No previous experience is required. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
