About the role
Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to the pending 2026/2027 national pay award. The final salary will be adjusted accordingly once this has been agreed.
A full time opportunity has arisen to join the Corporate Service Support Team. The team provides administrative support to all aspects of the authority, however this role as a Service Support Administrator, will primarily be providing administrative support to the Council’s Public Protection and Licensing teams. The postholder will play a key role in supporting the effective delivery of services across the Council’s public protection function and obligation, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and delivering excellent customer service to residents, businesses and partner organisations.
About the role:
The Service Support Administrator will be expected to undertake a variety of duties associated with a busy office environment which include to:
Maintain and update electronic and paper records, databases and case management systems and related records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Act as a key point of contact and respond to internal and external enquiries relating to the service, its information and records.
Provide administrative support in the processing of licenses, applications, permits, registrations and related documentation in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures.
Prepare and distribute reports, letters, notices, meeting agendas, minutes and other service documentation.
Support the coordination of inspections, investigations, hearings, meetings and appointments.
Provide general administrative support alongside other Service Support Officers.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, council policies, health and safety requirements, and information governance standards.
Contribute to service improvement initiatives and support the implementation of new processes and systems.
About the Candidate:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual, with a genuine desire to contribute to the effective delivery of the Council’s Public Protection and Licensing services. The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
5 GCSE or equivalent, including English & Maths at grade C or above or has equivalent experience, with a background in administrative or service support roles.
Has strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and technical experience of using ICT systems (e.g. (WCCIS, Insight, Clic, Tascomi, etc.)
Is adaptable and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrates excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Communicates effectively in writing and verbally.
Can build excellent working relationships with internal colleagues.
Has a sound understanding of administrative processes.
Welsh language learning is supported within the Council, with training opportunities available to support with meeting the specified Welsh language levels.

We play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the decision-making process of the Council, including support and advice to Councillors; PA, administrative and project management support to all service areas; facilitating elections; the communications team; translation and the Welsh Language policy officer. Our key functions include:
