Workshop Operations Technician
Location: Tekhniseal, Manchester
Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm (45-minute lunch break)

The Role
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Workshop Operations Technician with experience working in a workshop, engineering, manufacturing or mechanical environment.
This is a varied role combining workshop duties with customer support responsibilities. The successful candidate will be involved in refurbishing and inspecting mechanical seals, managing stock and supporting the day-to-day running of the workshop, while also providing excellent customer service via telephone, email and at our trade counter.
This role would suit someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in attention to detail and is comfortable communicating with customers and suppliers in a professional and friendly manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Refurbish and repair mechanical seals using workshop machinery and hand tools.
- Carry out quality inspections on incoming and outgoing products.
- Operate workshop equipment, including lapping machines, lathes and milling machines (training provided where required).
- Assist with stock control and inventory management.
- Process customer orders and enquiries accurately.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to customer emails.
- Serve customers visiting the trade counter and provide product guidance.
- Liaise with customers regarding order status, lead times and technical queries.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Support other workshop and operational activities as required.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience working in a workshop, engineering, manufacturing or mechanical environment.
- Experience using hand tools and workshop equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Confident communicating with customers by telephone, email and in person.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
Desirable:
- Experience in mechanical seal refurbishment or a similar engineering industry.
- Knowledge of stock control and order processing.
