The post provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for a pro-active and innovative person to play a major role in the day to day development of Pathway 4 provision in Coleg Sir Gar through supporting and development of interns to meet the needs of our local employers.
All activities linked to this role will involve extensive collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. The nature of the services involved are likely to change over time reflecting the diverse needs of learners and new opportunities as they arise. The post holder will be required to work with the wider ILS team and will be a key player in the development and implementation of Pathway 4 provision at Coleg Sir Gar.
The post will be based at the Ammanford Campus, but will involve travel to work alongside interns in their daily work.

Work with interns utilising specialist assessment methods, identify work related goals, job preferences, barriers to employment and support needs
- Develop learners in pre-employment related activities
- To support individual learner targets within a non-accredited curriculum, including accredited elements if this supports learner progression
- To assist with the identification of job opportunities for interns
- Liaise with employers and negotiate sustainable, work trials, placements or volunteering opportunities
- Monitor and record learner progress against targets and add further responsibilities or tasks into the daily/weekly routine of the intern to enhance learning and self development
- To create a needs analysis for the interns to be prepared for placement
- To mentor interns by regularly liaising with the employer
- To facilitate family involvement through emails, by phone and face to face
- To assist interns with planning travel arrangements to work
- To complete necessary Risk Assessments paperwork
- To complete the relevant training and processes involved with intern placements
- To ensure interns complete all relevant training and processes relevant to their placements
- To ensure that interns are supported at all times on their work placement
- Promote to employers the benefits of recruiting a diverse workforce. Ensure individual learner details are kept up-to-date and maintain records of learner progress, In accordance with the college GDPR policy
Essential
- Supported employment practitioners qualification or equivalent
- GCSE English or O Level Minimum Grade C or equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics or O Level Minimum Grade C or equivalent
- Relevant experience of working with young people
- Understanding of issues for learners with ALN
- Experience of working in partnership with external agencies
- Work effectively with learners with ALN
- Good communicator with diplomacy and tact
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues
- Good presentational skills
- Competence in the use of a range of IT systems and packages
- Ability to display confidence and establish positive relationships
- Ability to travel as required in role
Desirable
- Experience of tracking and monitoring
- Experience of pastoral care of learners
Welsh Language Requirements:
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Desirable

Coleg Sir Gâr was created in 1985 and became a corporate institution in 1993. In 2013 it became Coleg Sir Gar Ltd, a company within the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David Group, and part of a regional Dual Sector University. The College has an annual turnover of over £35m and employs around 800 staff.
Coleg Ceredigion was created in 1985 and became a corporate institution in 1993. The college merged with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David as a subsidiary company in 2014. The college has an annual turnover of £6m and employs around 180 staff.
The College is based in South West Wales and has seven main campuses at Llanelli (Graig), Carmarthen (Pibwrlwyd and Jobs Well), Ammanford, Llandeilo (Gelli Aur), Aberystwyth and Cardigan. The College is also home to Carmarthen School of Art which has its origins dating back to 1854.
