Body Piercer at Studio SHY, Lewes

The role
We're looking for a body piercer to take over our piercing at SHY. Our current piercer is moving on later this year, so you'll get a full handover and step into a busy diary with a loyal client base already in place. We'd love to hear from you if you have a year or two of experience and you're ready for a studio where piercing is taken seriously.
About SHY
Studio SHY is a beauty, piercing and wellbeing studio on Lewes High Street. Around a dozen resident artists and therapists work here, covering everything from permanent makeup, lashes and brows, nails and hair through to facials, aesthetics, acupuncture, massage and reiki. Our clients keep coming back because they feel genuinely looked after, and that goes for piercing too. Whether it's someone's first lobe or a full curated ear, every appointment gets time, care and attention.
What you'll be doing
- Performing piercings across the standard range of placements, always to strict hygiene and infection control protocols
- Consulting with clients on placement and jewellery, including curated styling, and putting nervous first timers at ease
- Recommending jewellery upgrades and other treatments around the studio where they're right for the client
- Keeping your treatment space clean and sterile, with full compliance every single time
- Talking clients through aftercare so their piercings heal well
- Sharing your work on our social channels and helping the piercing side of the studio grow
- Pitching in with the day to day, like bookings and welcoming clients, as part of a close team studio team. There will also be ad hoc reception cover.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- At least 1 to 2 years' experience as a working body piercer, with a portfolio of healed work
- Available to work Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays
- Good working knowledge of infection control, sterilisation and the health and safety regulations around piercing
- Excellent customer service skills and real confidence with clients, including putting anxious ones at ease
- Well presented, with a professional and friendly manner that fits a client facing studio
- Genuine sales experience. You'll be recommending jewellery upgrades and helping clients find pieces they love, so being comfortable selling matters here
- High standards of hygiene and attention to detail. This one is non negotiable for us
- Reliability and professionalism. You'll be trusted to run the piercing column as your own
Nice to have:
- Experience with curated ear styling and higher end jewellery brands such as BVLA and Junipurr.
- Confidence making content for Instagram or TikTok
- Local registration or licensing already in place - we are fully licenced and can help with licensing for you as well if required.
