REPORTS TO: Head of Performance Analysis & Academy Manager
LOCATION: Bristol Bears High Performance Centre, Abbots Leigh, Bristol, BS8 3TF. Where required, the role may include duties at off-site locations.
CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week (may include evenings and weekends).
SALARY: £27,000 - £28,000 per annum depending on experience
CLOSING DATE: Thursday 10th September at midnight

ROLE SUMMARY
This is an entry-level role within the Performance Analysis department, ideal for someone looking to begin their career in sports performance analysis. The successful candidate will measure and analyse the key performance indicators of our players and opposition trends, tracking progression to support both players and coaches in optimising on-field performance.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Academy

Responsible for delivering performance analysis for the U15’s, U16’s and U18s training and fixture schedule, including opposition previews, team reviews, and individual player reviews.
- Film training sessions, code footage post-session, and produce stacked training packages.
- Film and/or live code matchday fixtures.
- Deliver post-match individual coding supplemented by individual statistical reports, providing detailed feedback for coaches and players.
- Support player development by assisting with Individual Development Plan (IDP) presentations.
- Upload training footage, previews, reviews, and match footage to the online platform.
- Build player performance profiles using statistical reporting techniques.
- Assist in creating and adapting team meeting presentations.
- Produce weekly team announcement videos, keeping player appearance records up to date.
- Stay abreast of relevant technological advances and identify opportunities to gain a competitive advantage.
- Assist in managing and training Academy Analysis student placements.
- Collaborate closely with fellow Performance Analysts to ensure the department strives for world-class standards.
- Proactively pursue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Performance Analysis and Academy Manager
Dual Registration / Loan Players

Ensure individual coding of Bears players who have appeared for other teams while on loan or dual registration is completed and made available to the relevant coaches.
- Work with the student placement to ensure loan/dual registration games are uploaded to the Bears Hudl account and statistics are documented to support player progression.
First Team Squad

Provide support to the Senior Analysis Department as required, including:
- Assisting with filming of Senior Team training sessions
- Assisting with filming/live coding of Senior First Team matches
- Supporting any projects assigned by coaches or senior members of the department
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
-
Comprehensive knowledge of Rugby Union and its laws
- Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure in high-intensity environments
- Innovative mindset with a genuine commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
- Expert proficiency in Hudl Sportscode and associated hardware/software used for performance analysis
- Strong working knowledge of Apple-based hardware and software systems
DESIRABLE SKILLS

2–4 years of coaching and/or playing experience
- Solid understanding of key rugby performance analytics
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as MS Excel or R.
- Experience with data visualisation software such as Tableau
