DDB is looking for a skilled, reliable and hands-on Workshop Operative / Furniture Assembly Technician to join our team in Finchampstead.
We manufacture bespoke furniture, desks, workplace products, architectural fabrication (fasicas/cladding) and custom-made items for commercial and education customers. This is a practical workshop-based role involving furniture assembly, panel work, finishing, packing, quality control and general production duties.
This role would suit someone with previous experience in a workshop, furniture production, joinery, assembly, manufacturing or similar hands-on environment. We are looking for someone who can work accurately, use tools confidently and take pride in producing high-quality work.
Responsibilities
- Assembling desks, furniture, panels, signage and bespoke products
- Working from drawings, job sheets, measurements and cut lists
- Using hand tools and workshop equipment safely and accurately
- Carrying out quality checks on finished products
- Measuring, marking, drilling, fixing and general workshop assembly
- Helping with edge banding, finishing and production where required
- Packing and preparing completed orders for dispatch
- Loading, unloading and moving materials safely
- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe
- Working with the team to complete jobs accurately and on time
The ideal candidate will have
- Previous experience in a workshop, furniture, joinery, assembly or manufacturing role
- Good practical skills and confidence using hand tools
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to read basic drawings, measurements and job instructions
- A reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A good understanding of workshop health and safety
- Physically able to carry out manual handling tasks
Desirable but not essential
- Experience with furniture or desk assembly
- Edge banding experience
- CNC experience
- Forklift licence
- Experience working with panels, sheet materials, signage or bespoke products
- Basic CAD/CAM knowledge
