We are seeking a motivated Audit Assistant with strong analytical skills to join our Corporate Audit and Advisory team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in accountancy and audit within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.

The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high-quality audit services to a varied portfolio of clients, working closely with Audit Seniors, Managers and Partners. The role offers exposure to a broad range of industries and opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning and completion of statutory audits.
Perform audit testing and substantive procedures in accordance with firm methodologies and profession standards.
Prepare clear and accurate audit working papers and supporting documentation.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports (primarily under UK GAAP).
Assist and report to the Auditor in Charge (AIC) on client engagements.
Support the development of less experienced members of the team, including through providing timely feedback.
Analyse accounting records and identify any discrepancies or areas requiring further investigation.
Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and explanations.
Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and audit regulatory requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct.
Adhere to the firm’s risk management policies and procedures.
Undertake other duties to meet the demands of the business, as required.
Participate in training and professional development activities.

Person Specification:

Essential Skills and Experience

Previous experience in an audit environment with a track record of delivering excellent client service.
A-Level qualifications (or equivalent) with strong academic achievement.
AAT Level 4 qualified (if applicable).
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Highly effective organisational and time-management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Professional, positive and client-focused attitude.
Willingness to travel to other offices in East Anglia, as required.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Studying towards, or interested in pursuing, a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Experience of assisting in the preparation of financial statements and tax computations.
