I’m a private chef based in Peterborough, cooking small private dinners and events in clients’ homes across the surrounding area.
I’m looking for someone reliable, calm and switched on to work alongside me on selected events.
The food is modern, seasonal and restaurant influenced, but the atmosphere is relaxed and personal. Most events are private dinners, birthdays and celebrations, so being comfortable working professionally in somebody’s home is really important.
This is flexible event-based work, mainly evenings and weekends, with shifts offered as bookings come in.
What you’ll be helping with
- Unloading and setting up before events
- Keeping the kitchen organised and clean during service
- Clearing and washing up between courses
- Helping with simple plating, garnishing and food service
- Keeping an eye on the small details that make service run smoothly
- Packing down and loading equipment afterwards
- Occasional food prep shifts for the right person
I’m not necessarily looking for the most experienced person. I’m looking for someone dependable, tidy, calm and able to think for themselves.
You should be:
- Punctual and reliable
- Clean, organised and well presented
- Comfortable with evenings, weekends and occasional late finishes
- Friendly and professional with clients
- Happy working in a small team
- Able to follow instructions but also notice when something needs doing
- Comfortable working at a good pace without creating unnecessary stress
Hospitality, restaurant, catering or event experience would be useful, but attitude and reliability are just as important.
Transport to events can usually be arranged as we’ll often be travelling together, although having your own transport would be a bonus.
There are no guaranteed weekly hours to begin with. The aim is to find someone I can build a good working relationship with and call on regularly as the business grows. For the right person, there may also be opportunities for more prep and event responsibility over time.
Pay will depend on experience and the type of shift.
