Job Description: Labourer/Trainee Weighbridge operator

Location: Gordon Timber, Nairn, Scotland
Position Type: Full-time

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Weighbridge operator/Trainee Machine Operator. This role provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to develop their skills and gain experience in a fast-paced sawmill environment. Full training will be provided, making it an ideal position for those looking to start or build a career in the timber industry.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the operation of machinery and equipment.
Handle, sort, and stack timber products safely and efficiently.
Perform general labouring tasks, including maintaining work areas.
Support the production team by ensuring materials are prepared and available as needed.
Adhere to all health and safety guidelines to maintain a secure working environment.
Carry out additional duties as required to support the smooth running of the sawmill.
Operate the weighbridge system to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles.
Accurately record weights, vehicle details, and load information in the site management software.
Issue tickets, delivery notes, and other relevant documents.
Ensure all documentation is complete, correct, and filed appropriately

Administrative Support

Maintain accurate records of material movements.
Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
Support stock control processes for incoming and outgoing materials

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to work as part of a team in a physically demanding role.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a labouring or industrial environment.

Training and Development

Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Opportunities for skill progression and career development within the company.
Undertake training in weighbridge operation, software systems, waste regulations (if applicable), and site safety.
Work closely with experienced operators to learn all aspects of the role.

Customer and driver interaction

Greet drivers and visitors professionally.

Follow all site health and safety procedures.
Ensure vehicles comply with site rules before access or exit.
Report any safety concerns, non-compliance, or operational issues to the supervisor.
