Art Class Teaching Assistant - part time
Must be able to get to East Meon Village Hall, Workhouse Lane, East Meon, GU32 1PF
This role is for one day a week (Wednesdays 8am til 5.45pm) for an adults Art Class teaching Assistant to assist the Art Tutor in the smooth running of a 10 week art course held 3 times a year. The course teaches beginner and intermediate adult learners how to draw and paint (pencil, charcoal, watercolour and acrylics amongst other mediums). Each course runs 10 consecutive weeks, there is no break during each course. ie no half-term.
This position starts on Wednesday 14 October 2026
The ideal candidate must:~
Be physically fit to erect tables and chairs, lift and carry art supplies and be on their feet for most of the day.
Set up and set down all equipment and art materials as needed for the class.
Be energetic, bubbly, sociable, approachable and nurturing, ensuring all learners are having a great time.
Be observant to ensure that learners have their needs met.
Have great communication skills for communicating with both learners and staff.
Be very organised, undertaking light admin duties such as maintaining student register, issuing handouts, stock taking, look after and keep the equipment tidy and in good working order, look after petty cash, purchase milk in advance of each class. Purchase tea, coffee and biscuits on occasion, to top up supplies. Occasionally purchase props (usually only once per term) for still life projects.
Be able to follow instruction and ensure class follows a pre-set lesson plan.
Ideally be able to draw and paint in order to be able to assist if a student needs help whilst the tutor is busy with another students. Happy to take photos during class.
Have a good sense of humour and be willing to have fun.
This is on a self employed basis where the candidate would invoice the company for their time.
