Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills within a scientific environment, supporting research and quality control processes. The role involves assisting senior technicians with laboratory tasks, gaining hands-on experience in compliance with industry standards and regulations. The successful candidate will be committed to learning and adhering to safety protocols, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for scientific exploration. They will also be studying towards a Level 3 Laboratory Assistent Apprenticeship qualifcation so day release study forms an integral part of the role. This position offers valuable training opportunities within a professional environment dedicated to scientific excellence. The successful applicant will be supported in their career development through mentorship and ongoing learning initiatives.

Duties

Learn and apply core molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including pipetting, sample preparation, gel electrophoresis, and basic DNA/RNA handling
support daily laboratory operations by preparing reagents, managing stock and keeping workspaces organised
Assist with experiments supporting RNA research, recording observations and results accurately
Support quality control activities by conducting tests and recording results accurately
Maintain laboratory information management systems (LIMS) by inputting data and updating records
Help ensure compliance with FDA regulations and other relevant standards during all laboratory activities
Organise and clean laboratory equipment and workspaces to uphold safety and hygiene standards
Participate in calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments under supervision
Contribute to data analysis and report compilation for ongoing research projects
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently, including proper handling of chemicals and biological materials

Qualifications you would need before you start:

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above, including English, Mathematics and Science.

Pay: From £17,998.50 per year
